Vineet though he was in the medical field and a qualified Doctor, came to Mumbai to participate in Superstars Talent Hunt as he had set his heart to become an actor. After he had won the competition, actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar, who was one of the judges at the talent show, offered him a role in Sanjay Dutt starrer Pitaah. The film had not done well and Vineet had trouble in getting significant roles in films. He then worked for Mahesh Manjrekar Films as his associate and assistant director for films like the 2005 Viruddh and Deh in 2007. But after these two films Vineet had left film direction to focus on his acting. He did a couple of Bhojpuri serials like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Isaaq but the characters he played in these were insignificant.
